Bigu is not an extreme starvation challenge

Qingxin Bigu is framed through regular sleep, gentle practice, observation and a gradual dietary plan. Exact intake, preparation and the return to regular meals are explained in writing before confirmation and depend on individual suitability.

The five-day outline

DAY 01

Arrive & assess

Settle into the courtyard and confirm dietary needs, wellbeing considerations and personal boundaries.

DAYS 02—03

Settle & observe

Regular sleep, gentle practice, quiet time, generous rest and the confirmed dietary plan work together.

DAY 04

Integrate & reflect

Revisit practices that suit you and notice changes in sleep, energy, movement and appetite.

DAY 05

Return & continue

Follow the confirmed transition back to regular meals, close the retreat and shape a realistic rhythm for home.

Practice in the courtyard where daily life unfolds

Standing practice, breathwork and qigong take place beneath trees, tiled roofs and open skies. Sleep, energy, physical sensations and willingness to join are checked each day; every activity can be adapted or stopped.

Dietary and wellbeing boundaries

This is not medical diagnosis or treatment. Bigu is not suitable for everyone. People who are pregnant, under 18, have a history of eating disorders, experience hypoglycaemia, take diabetes medication, live with serious chronic illness or receive specialist care should speak with their doctor and disclose relevant needs. Stop immediately and seek care if unwell.

Questions before you come

01Does the retreat mean eating nothing for five days?

The website does not define Bigu as complete starvation. Intake, preparation and the return to regular meals must follow the written programme and individual assessment.

02Can I join mainly for rapid weight loss?

The retreat does not promise rapid weight loss. Suitability depends on health, medication, dietary history and expectations discussed before booking.

03Can I travel on my own?

Yes. Solo guests are welcome, as are friends travelling together. Room arrangements are clarified before confirmation.
